Aeris Thorne is expecting a restful vacation in the remote town of Deep Cove. But on a stormy night, she meets the alluring and mysterious Hunter Cayman, and her life takes an exhilarating turn. Aeris is both drawn to him and determined to find out what he’s hiding.
It’s clear Hunter has found success with the high-security lab on his vast estate. But what Aeris doesn’t know is that he’s tormented by a secret: the truth behind his research. As he and Aeris are drawn together, the walls he’s built to protect himself threaten to crumble. At the same time, she begins to wonder if she’s found the key to unraveling her own tragic past.
When Aeris’s life is threatened, Hunter is forced to make an impossible decision about her future—one that could change everything.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

You know, when I first started this book, I was so convinced that it was about aliens HAHAH. And now, as I have finished this book, I realized that it’s more of a science fiction genre. So, yes, that’s a fun fact for all you people who want to read this book (AND YOU SHOULD!)

This book started out slow, but it quickly picked up its pace about 20% in. The introduction was a teeeeny bit confusing for me, because I was trying to figure out what was going on, but after awhile, I GOT IT. Hehe. The bad thing about me is that I read quite fast, so sometimes I missed out some details, and have to reread that chapter again SIGH.

I definitely fell in love with Aeris, the main female character. Because firstly, THAT NAME. THAT IS ONE OF THE COOLEST NAME I HAVE EVER HEARD. And yes, fine, I do judge a book by its MC’s name. Sorry! But really, when I first read that name, I was like SERIOUSLY? SO COOL. Anywaaaaay, HAHAH. Secondly, she’s one curious girl, and isn’t afraid to take risks just to satisfy her curiousity. I mean, there’s a fine line between stupidity and brave, and Aeris is definitely brave. Like, she’s still scared to take that risk, but that didn’t stop her from doing so. I honestly thought I would get annoyed with her, but I didn’t. I like that the author gave Aeris her own voice, and thoughts, instead of just listening to the other characters when they said Hunter was bad news.

I’m not sure how I felt about Hunter, though. There were times I think he was a tad bit sketchy. And all that mysterious air around him, makes me feel that he’s hiding way more than the secret that he told in the end. Hmmmm, or maybe it’s just me? I do know that Hunter is hot as hell though. HEHE.

This book had so many twists and turns, and woah, the last few scenes were crazy intense. I could not put down the book at all, till I’m done with it. So, if you love research and science fiction and crazy villians? READ THIS. Also, will there be a sequel?
